Application:
Contact Elizabeth Wallace at skiesalivefilm@gmail.com for an entry form.
Include a cover letter with your entry which
includes who you are (short bio), what the film is about, when it was filmed,
where it was filmed, why you made the film and any details about premiere
status. We will watch your entire film.
Note: Since the films will be showed to
family audiences, films must NOT contain:
- gratuitous violence or
abuse
- inappropriate sexual
behavior
- bias in terms of race,
gender, culture or religion
Add $25 per fee for late fee for films received by
our office within a 2 week period after November 1,
2009.
Awards:
Skies Alive First 1st Prize for each genre
Audience Cheer Prize for each genre and overall
festival
Teacher's Pet Prize: Chosen by K-12 educators.
Location: Washington DC area, to be announced, with
a Star Party to follow!
Jury: Educator, Astronomer, Filmmaker, and
Elizabeth Wallace.
Exposure:
- Links to your site from ours including imbedded
YouTube
- IYA 2009 website
- Announcements to planetarium and science center
educators, astronomy clubs, after school astronomy educators, science teachers,
film buffs, family audiences ,etc.
Possible future exposure:
- Creation of DVD available to educators for use in
their classrooms or science centers with royalties paid to you.
- We hope this to be the first of at least 10 to celebrate the IAU's recent declaration to extend the focus on astronomy
education for a decade!
