I will describe the results of a large-scale (2x6403
particle) cosmological SPH simulation that includes
heating of the intergalctic medium by active galactic
nucleii. Following the hydrodynamic evolution of this hot
gas, we are able to quantify its impact on the growth of
supermassive black holes and galaxies, and its possible
relation to the anti-hierarchical turn-off in the quasar
luminosity function. The level of such quasar feedback
will soon be constrained by small-scale microwave
background measurements.
